I don’t drink alcohol. And every time I say that, someone goes “omg really???” It’s like it’s the most shocking thing ever! So let’s break it down.
It’s been over 2 years now. I stopped drinking when I got pregnant. And I never drank when I was breastfeeding because I didn’t know the rules about alcohol going into the breast milk and it felt like more of a headache to pump & dump…
After I was done breastfeeding, I went out one night and drank some really fantastic wine. The next day, I reported to mom duty and I felt like absolute shit. I was tired, eyes were heavy, my stomach was upset and all I wanted to do was lay in bed and watch tv.
Mom duty is my favorite thing in the entire world. So it didn’t make sense to me why would I do something deliberately to take away my favorite thing in the world. I decided that drinking doesn’t bring me that joy anymore.
But… I also told myself that I can never be a “Debbie downer” at parties. It annoys me when people that just sat in the corner at gatherings because they “were not drinking.” I have now attended 3 weddings sober, and even a bachelorette party sober!! No one knew I wasn’t drinking. I was still the one dancing hard and up until 4 AM with everyone else.
I recorded a whole podcast episode about it. If you’re sober curious, you can listen to it here!
What the heck is a mocktail?
It’s a cocktail but without the alcohol! It typically uses fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to boost flavor without missing the alcohol. So you can feel like you’re sipping with everyone else, without the hangover the next day!
What are the benefits?
No hangover, better energy and mood, and better sleep! I dont know about you, but when I used to drink I would sleep so poorly, and my stomach would be aching all night long!
Let’s talk bubbly water!
Using the help of the Nama team here to give you the difference so you can decide which one you would want to use in your drinks!
Club soda - offers a slightly salty flavor
Sparkling - naturally carbonated water
Selzer - bubbly water with no added minerals, sometimes there’s added sugar!
Tonic - has added sugars, be careful with this one!

I don’t drink either. Over the years I can’t tell you how many people asked me if I was in recovery! I’ve never liked the taste. But I was never the one sitting in the corner. I’ve been told I’m the life of the party on occasion. I guess I just don’t need alcohol. I did my share of drinking in my 20’s & 30’s, but after that, meh!
Love these recipes! Thank you.
