Starbucks Copycat, Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso
My husband is obsessed with espresso, Starbucks and oat milk. So when Starbucks released this drink a few months back he was at Starbucks first in line to try it. Although I am not a coffee drinker, I had to taste it. I was curious what the hype was about. I have to admit, it was pretty dang good. While in the drive through with Troy, getting this shaken espresso, I was surprised to hear it was almost $6 just for a small glass.
I am someone who has a hard time paying $6 for a specialty drink I could (probably) make at home, let alone with more wholesome ingredients. So I had to try it. Troy and I put our minds to the test to come up with a copycat version of this Starbucks, Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso. Let me tell you, it was pretty dang close to the real deal!
Since then, Starbucks has discontinued this drink and now it is even harder to find. So if you TOO were in love with this drink and want to make it at home, give this recipe below a try and tell me what you think!
Starbucks Copycat, Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso
Watch our quick video on how we made it here
Ingredients
2 shots of espresso: We used our Nespresso machine. But you can use any. The Starbucks one uses blonde roast.
2 tablespoons brown sugar: It may sound like a lot, but the Starbucks drink has more than this in it. Plus, you wanted a speciality drink, you're getting one!
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (more or less depending on your preference)
1/2 cup oat milk
4-6 ice cubes
Directions
Make your espresso, this should be warm. Add it to a mason jar with a lid.
Add your brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Put the lid on your jar and shake this up until the sugar dissolves in the warm espresso.
Let it cool for a few minutes (even in the fridge). Add your oat milk then top with ice cubes.
Enjoy!
If you try this out, let me know how it turns out! Can't wait to hear!
