Everything bagel tuna bowls
My husband used to be a fishing charter captain in Florida. Needless to say, we have had our fair share of fresh fish! I love creating new recipes with the different fish he catches.
Now we live in California and he doesn’t get to get out on the water as much. But I love when he does go because he brings back so much fresh fish. He went a few weeks caught yellowtail tuna. We vacuum sealed them & popped them into the freezer.
We have been making these delicious yellowtail tuna bowls almost every week. They take me just 20 minutes to whip up and it seriously tastes like it is from a gourmet restaurant. We change the toppings every time but our go to is steamed broccoli and avocado.
If you are not a tuna fan, swap it for any fish you have (salmon, cod, mahi mahi etc.). The everything bagel seasoning is the perfect salty and crunchy. Hope you love it as much we we do!

Yellowtail Tuna Rice Bowl
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
Fish
2 fresh yellowtail tuna filets
2 tablespoons coconut aminos
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Olive oil for cooking the tuna
Bowl
2 cups cooked fluffy rice - get my recipe
1 cup store-bought seaweed salad
2 cups broccoli florets
1 ripe avocado, sliced
Everything bagel seasoning, to taste
1 lime, for the juice
Directions
Start by marinating your yellowtail tuna filets. Into a bowl combine the coconut aminos, olive oil, ginger powder, and garlic powder. Mix well to coat the fish. Refrigerate for up to 4 hours or just let it sit for 10 minutes before preparing the remaining ingredients. The longer you let it marinate, the tastier it will be.
Prep the rice. Use my easy rice recipe for a perfect fluffy rice.
Steam the broccoli florets by placing them in a steamer basket with an inch of water. Cover, heat on medium and cook for about 5 minutes until fork tender.
Bring the tuna to room temperature before cooking it. To cook the tuna, heat a skillet with olive oil on medium/high heat. Place the tuna in the pan and sear for 2-3 minutes each side. It just depends on how well you want it done! Less time for more rare tuna, and more time for more cooked tuna!
To assemble the bowl, add a generous scoop of fluffy rice as the base, add the tuna on top, steamed broccoli, seaweed salad and fresh avocado.
Finish with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning and fresh lime juice. Enjoy!
