This sweet potato salmon bowl is probably one of my favorite recipes of all time! I love the different components & flavors all together. But most of all, I love how each ingredient is perfectly formulated for your skin health!
Let’s get personal… in March of 2021 I decided to finally go off of hormonal birth control. Let’s just say that my mood, health and emotions improved drastically but my skin health wasn’t so great. My hormones had a hard time rebalancing so I really turned to the study of food on skin to learn how I could help the inflammation!
I learned that acne is related to inflammation, so the more anti-inflammatory we can eat, the less flair ups we will get!
The salmon sweet potato bowl was created based on my research!
Let me remind you that you don’t have to have acne to make this recipe, it’s so great for our health & can help our joints feel strong! It’s a great post-workout balanced meal. We try to include a meal like this in our weekly plan! It just makes us feel great & sleep great!
Here are the top vitamins for helping acne:
Zinc: zinc is great for acne. It can be found in foods like ginger root, oats, shrimp and almonds. This recipe calls for a toasted nut on top! I recommend going for almonds or walnuts because of their healthy skin benefits!
B2: Vitamin B2 is crucial for healing acne. It can be found in mushrooms, tuna, salmon, squash and cauliflower. That’s why you’ll find salmon in this recipe, prepared in an anti-inflammatory way!
Vitamin A: You’ll want to eat foods high in vitamin A, which includes carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin, melon and broccoli. That’s why I created roasted sweet potatoes in this recipe! I usually make enough for a few meals so I can keep reheating them throughout the week!
Now here are the other ingredients in this dish that you’ll find will also help clear your skin & detoxify your body!
Dark Leafy Greens: they help detoxify the liver (which is especially helpful after being on the pill).
Avocado: has a lot of vitamin B5, and helps improve skin and hair!
Walnuts: high in omega 3’s, which are great for inflammation! Plus it improves sleep, which is crucial when on an anti-inflammatory diet!
Lemon: packed with vitamin C, it makes collagen so our skin stays elastic & healthy!
Dijon mustard: wonderful antioxidant!
Now that you know all of the benefits, cooking the food & eating it is the fun part! I love to envision each bite going straight into the skin, nourishing the acne from the inside out. It’s quite a powerful experience!
