Transform Your Gut Health with These Simple Steps!
I felt like this piece needed to be dedicated to the foundation of health… THE GUT. If the gut is off, the whole body is off.
If you are experiencing any of these things below, this could be a sign that your gut health needs some TLC…
Digestive discomfort like bloat, gas, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn and acid reflux.
Food intolerances like difficulty digesting certain foods, leading to discomfort.
Mental health issues like anxiety, depression and mood swings.
Skin problems like acne, eczema and rosacea.
Sleep disturbances like insomnia and poor sleep quality.
Fatigue, weight gain or loss, sugar cravings and decreased immune system.
How I used to feel…
6 years ago I started my quest to heal my gut because I was so tired of always feeling bloated after every single thing I ate, and spending way too much time in the bathroom feeling uncomfortable. I knew the bacteria in my gut was off and it led to the spiral of anxiety, “what can I eat, what can’t I eat, what foods will make me feel bloated etc.” I have spoken to way too many friends to know that this wasn’t just a “me” problem. Have you been there too?
This picture was taken when my gut health was at its worst. I remember feeling so confused.
I’m sharing my personal journey with you on the steps I took to heal my gut. I have worked with various professionals over the years, read a lot of books and tested all of these on my own body. Within 4-6 months of staying constant with my tips, I was able to heal my gut.
How I feel now…
I can eat anything I want, and I won’t ever get bloated.
My bowel movements are consistent, the same exact time every day.
I no longer have anxiety about foods I put into my body.
My sleep has been the best it’s ever been, even throughout pregnancy, I sleep 8 hours/night and wake up feeling rested.
My weight is controlled, I feel strong in my body.
I am not a medical professional so please consult with your doctor about what may be right for you.
Tip #1 Seed DS-01® Daily Synbiotic
What is it? Seed DS-01® is a probiotic and prebiotic, formulated with 24 clinically and scientifically studied strains. It supports digestive health, healthlyregularity, eases bloating, and even benefits immune function, cardiovascular health, and skin health.
Why Seed. Vs other probiotics? The microorganisms in Seed’s DS-01® actually makes it into your gut alive. It’s specifically formulated to survive stomach acid, enzymes, moisture, and heat. Most other probiotics are not engineered to survive the intestinal tract. If you’ve tried other probiotics and felt they don’t work, it's probably because it’s not even making it into your digestive tract.
What happened when I started taking it? I noticed a difference within 3 days of taking Seed DS-01®. Immediately, I started to have more complete bowel movements at more regular times during the day. The benefits have continued to show within the years of consuming it regularly. My bloat disappeared and I can eat anything without digestive discomfort. My husband's favorite benefit is that he can finally use the restroom while he travels, it keeps him regular even on a different routine! If you want to read my entire experience taking Seed, I wrote about it here.
How I use it: I started with just 1 capsule, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with as much water as I could drink! I wait about 30 minutes before consuming anything else. After about 2 weeks, I increased the dosage to 2 capsules first thing in the morning. This helped ease my body into all of the bacteria. Alternatively, you can take it at the end of the night, a few hours after food!
Where to buy it: You can order it online, and use my code JAZZLEAF25 for 25% off!
Tip #2 Control Your Stress
It’s silly to say that we should remove stress entirely from our life, it just doesn’t work like that. However, if you could have a few ways to better manage it, then you are in control. Stress was one of the biggest factors in my digestive issues. I was hit by a car in 2019 and it made me slow down tremendously. I began a meditation practice, started to spend more time outside in nature, journal, read and deeply breathe. Whenever I feel stressed I go to one of these things and it greatly reduces my anxiety. Keep a list on your notes app with all of the things that make you feel happy (i.e. dancing, calling a friend, walking etc.) and when you feel stressed, hop into the list and pick one. It’s simple. It’s free!
Tip # 3 Bone Broth
Bone broth is essential for healing the gut lining. It has anti-inflammatory effects and improves digestive systems. I like to warm it up, and enjoy it like tea, or use it to make rice. Adding ginger, lemon juice always adds flavor. Sip on this 1-2 times a day consistently.
Tip # 4 Limit high intensity interval workouts
I spent 8 years teaching indoor cycle classes, and although it gave me so much happiness, the yelling and heart rate racing impacted my gut so much. Sometimes I would have loose bowels, other times I would feel bloated. When I cut back on those high intensity workouts, I saw a huge change. I still exercise daily by walking, pilates, yoga, or light weight lifting.
Tip # 5 Collagen Peptides
Collagen is crucial for gut lining, blood vessel integrity, joint health, and muscle growth. It helps break down proteins and seals a leaky gut. I started to add 1 scoop of a good quality collagen peptide into my smoothies, matcha latte, oatmeal, waffles or baked goods. The key is to take it consistently!
Tip #6 Tip Tongue Scraping
Tongue scraping is the simple act of removing toxins that accumulate overnight on your tongue. Use a metal or copper tongue scraper to remove the toxins first thing when you wake up in the morning like this. Your body detoxes at night, so you’ll see a whole lot of gunk (for lack of a better word) and you’ll be surprised how amazing it makes your gut and dental health feel.
Tip #7 Eat real food
Nourish your body with real food. Focus on fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, and healthy grains. Limit highly processed foods. Experiment with dairy and gluten to see how your body reacts. Opt for high-quality, pasture-raised dairy and organic gluten if you tolerate them well. Here are my favorite recipes if you need some inspiration on where to start.

Tip # 8 Sleep
Sleep is one of my top priorities. I aim to be in bed by 9:15 PM. I journal then read until I feel tired and I am asleep by 9:45 PM. Getting a great night's rest starts in the morning, get sunlight first thing when you wake up! Try this for a week and report back on how you feel! It’s the best life hack!
