Why matcha over coffee…
I love the taste of coffee, but if you’re a wellness girlie like me.. the benefits of matcha outweighs anything that coffee brings to the table. It contains chlorophyll, which helps promote skin clarity and elasticity. The L-theanine in matcha promotes calm and balance, making it perfect if you need to relax and unwind. Matcha also helps curb sugar and hunger cravings, making it a great addition to your weight loss journey.
Let’s talk about caffeine in matcha vs. coffee..
If you’re worried about caffeine levels, don’t! Matcha has about half the caffeine of coffee, but the trick is in how it’s released. Thanks to that L-theanine we chatted about above, it’s a slow, steady boost that keeps you awake without the “ugh, I need a nap” moment. It basically gives you that caffeine boost without the crash that coffee can sometimes cause.
How I feel when I drink matcha…
Since switching over, my days feel smoother. I’m getting my work done without anxiety and I don’t feel that afternoon crash. It’s hard to explain, but my energy just feels steady, and focused.
Let’s answer the questions I always get about matcha…
1. Does matcha really taste good?
If you’re used to coffee, matcha might taste a bit “green” and earthy at first. But with a little milk and sweetener, it is so delicious. The better-quality matcha is smoother and less bitter. Chances are, if you have tried matcha and haven’t loved it.. the quality has been crappy (hint Starbucks matcha is crap)!
2. Does matcha have enough caffeine to replace coffee?
Yes, but it’s different! Matcha has about half the caffeine of coffee, but it’s absorbed more gradually. That means a steady energy boost that lasts longer, without the jitters!
3. Can I drink matcha if I’m sensitive to caffeine?
Usually, yes! Because of the L-theanine, the caffeine in matcha is released slowly, making it easier on those sensitive to caffeine. But if you’re very sensitive, start small to see how it works for you (that’s what I did)!
4. Do I really need all the fancy tools?
Not really. A frother is nice for blending, but you can use a regular spoon if that is all you have. Just make sure your matcha powder is high quality, and you’re good to go!
